Ayurvedic Solution For Stomatitis

Inflammation of mouth resulting in defuse redness, erosion, blister and submucosal haemorrhages and ulcers is known as stomatitis. The tongue may also be affected simultaneously. In Ayurveda this is called Mukhapaka.

It might be caused by different types of germ. It might also be a symptom of the toxity of the drug and heavy metals. Nutritional deficiency may also be responsible for the causation of this disease. This may appear as a symptom of some other diseases also.

Treatment:

The when a person is suffering from stomatitis, normally remains constipated. He should be given laxative and this should be continued until the patient is cured. Tripala is proper laxative. This can be given to the person in dosage of one teaspoon before bed every day. It can be mixed with honey or milk. The dosage can be increased if the bowels are not clear.

Godent powder(link): Godent is mixture of various herbs that are helpful for better health of mouth. Mix one teaspoon of the powder and boil it for 10-15 minutes, later filter the powder from the liquid and gargling 2-4 times a day with the water (Kashaya), this will be very helpful for stomatitis. Kadhiradivati: Kadhira is the main ingredient of this medicine. This tablet is to be kept in mouth and is to be sucked slowly so that it will get mixed with saliva slowly. Such 6-8 tablets can be used per day. This prevents excessive saliva and produces a soothing effect on the ulcers and inflamed parts.

Irimedadi taila: One teaspoon of this medicated oil is added to a cup of warm water and should be given to the person who is suffering, to gargle. This should be done 3-4 times a day.

Diet:
One who is suffering for stomatitis should take non-constipative diet, free from sour things, including curd, pickle and spices. Green vegetables and fruits should be given to the patient in considerable amount. Papaya and suvarna are very useful for the patient.

Other suggestions:
• It is very important to avoid using tobacco in any form.
• It is very useful to use tooth paste or tooth powder having neem.
